Full Force Recordings
Full Force
  • 0. Who are you? Where are you from? What do you do?
  • I'm Radic aka Matthew Crosby and he's Chook aka Philippe Schirrer, im Chook and he's Radic. We are from Luxembourg and we run a label called Full Force.

  • 1. How is the scene in Luxembourg? What got you into drum n bass? Favorite place to play?
  • There is no real scene in Luxembourg. It's so bad we have never sold one single FF record here.
What got me into drum & bass was when I was at uni in Manchester. I saw Kenny Ken, Ed Rush & Trace down at a night called "Guidance". A very sick night held at the "Music Box" hosted Marcus Intalex at the time. I guess 'Wormhole' was responsible for why I cain that techy future sound 24/7.
As for favorite place to play, it's our local night called "The Elevator", because its great to see people dance to drum & bass when they never heard any of tunes before.

  • 2. What got you guys started producing? Who do you look up to?
  • Chook started producing 3 or 4 years ago as soon as he bought his Virus B synth. He hasn't looked back since.
We have always been great admirers of Ed Rush & Optical, Stakka & Skynet, Matrix, Cause4Concern (probably our biggest influence to date).

  • 3. What made you want to start a label? What type of sound are you going for with the label?
  • Chook wrote 'Blow' 3 years ago and I wanted to release it because I liked it a lot. After a bit of research we soon realised we could start our own label and with a lot of luck getting ST Holdings as our distro we never looked back.
We're looking to push the boundries of techstep/neuro funk. I want to challenge producers to new limits!!!

  • 4. Where do you want to go with the label?
  • As far as possible. We want Full Force Recordings to be more than just the ordinary record label. We want close releations ships with our artists and get a nice vibe going on.

  • 5. what's coming up in the near future with Full Force?
  • 006 Mayhem & Codex - Conform / N-Phonix - Transfix
    007 Cerebral Productions - exposure / N-Phect - Shift Funk
    008 N-Phonix - Ephyra / Complex - Existence
    009 Mayhem & Impulse - Bionic Slorch / Chook - Trainspot
010 Senser - State Of Mind Remix (Artists shall remain unknown until closer to release date).
We are also putting out a Full Force double CD in the future, 1 disc mixed by Chook & Radic + 1 disc unmixed. The mix disc will contain bonus tracks.

  • 6. What would you say to someone that's just starting a label?
  • Make sure you have money and good distro. Be self critical of everything you sign, pay our artists and be willing to make compromises from time to time.

  • 7. Current top ten? All time favorites?
  • Misanthrop - Stop Criterion
    Misanthrop - Bullhead
    Noisia - Facade VIP
Ed Rush & Optical - Medicine (Matrix Remix)
    Ed Rush & Optical - Wormole / Creeps/ Dr. Shade Lp's
Ed Rush & Optical - The Shining Remix
    Nocturnal - Third Rail
Stakka & Skynet - Clockwork LP
    Stakka & Skynet (Shrapnel rmx)
    Konflict - Maelstrom
    Konflict - Messiah
    Konflict - Star Trails
    Phace - Polymers / Brainwave
Phace feat Mayhem - Oceans Of Emptyness
    Phace - Vitamin P
    Phace - Psycho
Phace feat Mayhem - Love Sexgame
    Mayhem & Psidream - Unsung
    Everything from Cause 4 Concern

  • 8. In your opinion, who are the guys that will take it to the next level in the following months?
  • I think Misanthrop will kill it in 2007. Catacomb starting to look promising. Mayhem is doing some good things. Phace & Noisia still keeping things tight on a prodution tip, but if i had to put my finger on it i would say : BREAK!!!

  • 9. There is a big time surge of dubstep going on in the dnb scene, what do you think of this new style of music?
  • Not familiar with dubstep, not very interetsed tbh.

  • 10. What would you like to see change in the drum & bass scene? and What would you like to change in the business side of drum & bass?
  • Definately get rid of the badboy arrogant attitude. IT SUCKS!!! I would also love to see more young talent emerge and take on new hights.

  • 11. How has the internet helped Full Force Recordings grow?
  • HUGELY!!! DSCI4 forum has been massive, AOL AIM also has helped get in touch with artists. Downloading mixes and hearing new bits from people was infuencial. Myspace.com is also another usefull networking tool. Internet saved our asses!!!

  • 12.Do you love me? (lol)
  • Yes

  • 13. Favorite alcoholic drink?
  • I dont drink alcohol but Chooks' favorite would be gin & bitter lemon.

  • 14. Favorite top five non dnb tunes?
  • Too hard to answer. Sorry.

  • 15. Biggie or 2pac?
  • Neither

  • 16. Shout outs?
  • Our familly and friends, all our artists and people who buy and play our records. Last but not least a massive shout to DSCI4 forum crew, ST HOLDINGS crew and of course the one and only, E-Dub.

  • 17. Last words
  • Hmmmm...Peace & love to everyone who has supported us so far...

Editors Note: This interview was completed in August of 2006 by Eric E-Dub.
